2. A calculator and a ruler
3. A pencil and eraser

Assessment and Evaluation Plan:
Students will be graded according to the prescribed learning outcomes, based on a four-point scale. While students are learning material, formative assessments will be used. During, and at the end of each unit of study, when I make a judgment about the level of performance in relation to the competencies, summative assessments will be used to come up with a grade. Major assessment dates are subject to change. All prescribed learning outcomes may be re-assessed in order to improve marks, after supplemental work is completed.
Throughout the semester, the following principles will be used to assess student learning:
1. Teacher Collects Evidence From Products, Observations, And Conversations To Use In Formative And Summative Judgments.
2. Students Are Involved In Co-Constructing Criteria In Instructionally Significant Areas.
i.e. co-construct the steps in solving an equation to achieve the purpose
3. Students Give Specific And Descriptive Feedback To Themselves
i.e. Mark their own quizzes and then we review their comments
4. Students Have Access To Samples Of Quality.
i.e. Demonstrate examples and past examples of mastery on summative assessments, etc.
5. Students Give Specific And Descriptive Feedback To Others.
i.e. Students prepare end of chapter summaries together as a group and put info on a poster, generate discussion and feedback among group members
6. Students Set Specific Goals And Collect Evidence Of Their Progress.
i.e. At the beginning of a chapter we will set the criteria for the chapter and students will establish what they need to do to be successful. Reflect on progress throughout unit.
7. Teachers Give Rounds Of Specific And Descriptive Feedback To Students With An Opportunity For “Second Chances”.
i.e. Students are given opportunities to do corrections based on feedback from teacher, and re-writes for unit tests are always given.
Connections to / activities supporting the School Growth Plan:
Lessons that involve note taking will begin with an underlined title and include the date. Students will be given daily opportunities to learn, discuss, and use new vocabulary. Students will be continuously encouraged to use complete sentences when responding to questions both in writing and orally. Students will often work in pairs and small groups to provide opportunities for discussion and peer- teaching and learning. Students will be expected to communicate their mathematics strategies and problem solving using complete sentences and showing every step of their work.
Specific policies/procedures for this course:
1) ATTENDANCE : Punctual daily attendance is expected.
2) RESPECT: For yourself, your teacher, your classmates, your materials
3) FOCUS: Cell phones and electronic devices are not to be used during class time.
4) RESPONSIBILITY: Students are responsible for any missed work.
